Even in spring and autumn, it can get quite chilly at night. It's important to pack warm layers to stay comfortable during the evenings.

No prior trekking experience is not needed for the Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek. The trek is suitable for beginners, but the high altitude and long hours of walking can still be challenging. With good physical fitness, proper acclimatization, and guidance from an experienced guide, you can complete the trek successfully.

Preparation & Training

In case of a medical emergency, the guide will evaluate the situation and offer immediate first aid. If evacuation is needed, the guide will arrange for a helicopter rescue, as long as your insurance covers it. Trekkers should follow the guide’s instructions and inform them about any health concerns as soon as possible.

To get ready for the trek, focus on improving your stamina and strength. Try activities like jogging, walking, hiking, or cycling a few times a week to build your endurance. Adding stair climbing to your routine is a great idea since it prepares you for the uphill sections of the trail. Simple exercises like squats, lunges, and planks will also help strengthen your legs and core, making the trek more manageable.

Permits & Insurance

Your travel insurance should cover emergency medical expenses and helicopter evacuation up to the highest point of the trek (4,130 meters). It's important to confirm with your insurance provider that your policy specifically includes trekking and altitude coverage, as well as helicopter evacuation, as these are not always included in standard travel insurance.

It's important to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers emergency helicopter evacuation and medical treatment costs.

Yes, you can get the permits in person, either in Kathmandu or Pokhara. However, it’s a good idea to arrange them in advance to avoid any delays or issues.

You can easily get the ACAP and TIMS permits from the offices in Kathmandu or Pokhara. If you book your trek with us, we’ll handle the permit process for you, making your journey hassle-free.

Guides & Porters

Yes, the Nepal Government has made it mandatory to have a guide for the Annapurna Base Camp trek starting from 1 April 2023. A guide helps ensure you stay on the right path, assists with altitude-related issues, and enriches your experience by sharing knowledge about the local culture, wildlife, and plants.

Our package includes 10 kg of luggage per trekker, which will be carried by our porters. You only need to bring a small daypack with essentials like water, snacks, and extra layers.

Accommodation & Facilities

Yes, most teahouses have charging facilities for electronics like phones and cameras, though there is usually a small fee. Charging is often done in common areas, and access to electricity may be limited, especially at higher altitudes. It’s a good idea to bring extra batteries or a portable power bank just in case.

Wi-Fi is available in some teahouses, but the connection can be slow and unreliable, especially at higher altitudes. There is usually a small fee for using Wi-Fi. It's best not to depend too much on internet access during the trek and to let your family know in advance about the limited connectivity.

Yes, hot showers are available in most teahouses along the trek, but they come at an additional cost. The price usually increases as you reach higher altitudes.

Accommodation during the trek is usually in teahouses or guesthouses, offering clean and comfortable rooms with basic amenities. Rooms typically have twin beds with mattresses, blankets, and pillows. Many teahouses are family-run, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, though the amenities are generally simple.

Food & Nutrition

It’s not required to bring your own food, as meals are provided at the teahouse. However, you may want to bring some personal snacks, like energy bars, trail mixes, or dried fruit, as they can be useful for quick energy boosts during the trek.

Yes, vegetarian options are commonly available, as many locals follow a vegetarian diet. Vegan options can also be provided, but it’s a good idea to confirm with the teahouse staff, as some dishes may contain ghee (clarified butter) or other animal products.

The food along the Annapurna Base Camp trek is generally simple but nutritious. You can enjoy Nepali dishes like rice, lentils, and vegetable curries (dal bhat), as well as Tibetan-style food like momos (dumplings) and noodle soups. Most teahouses also offer Western options, including pasta, pancakes, and omelets.

Gear & Packing

Yes, you can rent or buy sleeping bags, down jackets, and trekking poles at affordable prices in Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, it’s recommended to bring your own boots and personal clothing for better comfort and fit.

Logistics & Package Inclusions

Transportation during the trek, like the road journey from Pokhara to the trekking areas, is generally reliable. However, delays can sometimes occur due to weather conditions or roadblocks, especially during the monsoon season. Local bus or jeep services are basic but effective, ensuring you reach your destination safely.
